From Wisconsin to The Big Friendly; Coulee Region Chill move to OKC!

The NA3HL has announced today that they have approved the sale of the Coulee Region Chill and will be moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and going from the Central Division to the South Division for the 2020-2021 season.

One week ago, the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Western States Hockey League unveiled the new logo and the logo can still be seen on the WSHL site, meaning that the likelihood of this NA3HL team being the same as the WSHL team is very high. Whether this team will keep the Blazers name is still unknown, but as of right now the team is simply known as the Oklahoma City Hockey Club.

Their home will be the Arctic Edge Ice Arena in the OKC suburbs in Edomond, Oklahoma. Having hosted the WSHL Blazers for a number of seasons, the arena has a capacity of 450, which is well in the range for a team in the NA3HL.

As for the Coulee Region Chill, they began as the Flint Jr. Generals in the CSHL/NA3HL from 1998 to 2014. After that time they were moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin and were called the La Crosse Freeze from 2014-2018. The last two seasons saw the once NAHL Coulee Region Chill move fully down to the NA3HL. Their arena was the Green Island Ice Arena, which is on the cusp of permanently closing at the end of the month as the arena needs over $3 Million in repairs.
