Wheeling Nailers Looking for Solutions After Ice System Fails

Earlier this week, as WesBanco Arena began preparing for the Wheeling Nailers upcoming training camp, they found that the refrigeration was not working and are now scrambling for solutions by the Nailers home opener on October 19th. Arena officials yesterday afternoon determined that the system will not be able to be fixed in the next few weeks.

Negotiations are currently ongoing about putting in a temporary ice system, similar to those used for outdoor games like the NHL Winter Classic, while they get the current ice system fixed or replaced.

Due to this, the Nailers preseason game against the Fort Wayne Komets on October 4th has been moved to Fort Wayne. Meanwhile, their training camp which is scheduled to begin October 1st has been moved to Printscape Arena in Canonsburg, PA. The Nailers wouldn't be the only team affected by this, as 13 amateur and high school teams call WesBanco Arena home as well.
