A New Wave: Peoria Rivermen Unveil New, Revamped Logo
Following a post on the team's social media accounts that "Sometimes change is good" the previous day, the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL showed off their new, revamped logo for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.
The logo features a red paddlewheel, an element that has been in most Rivermen logos in the team's nearly 40-year history. Another long-running and returning element is the inclusion of the river and city of Peoria skyline inside the wheel. However, this new logo features a new take on the Illinois River, using a fairly modern take using white and yellow wave lines to show the river. Also on the new logo, the font has been changed up from what was on all previous SPHL era logos for the team. The new font looks to be a more modern take on the teams' old font style that was used from 1984 to 2013. Overall, this makes this logo a safe, more modern change to a classic logo that has been used for decades.
Another thing to note with this, however, comes from the official team article talking about the new logo. With 2022 being the teams' 40th year of pro hockey, the team mentioned they will celebrate this "by sporting a variety of different jerseys with multiple logos; all new and updated for the team's return to action this fall." It will definitely be interesting to see what else the team has instore on that front this year.
